Rhinebeck Writers Retreat Accepting Applications PDF Print E-mail

rhinebeckFor musical theatre writers -- the application deadline for Rhinebeck Writers Retreat is Friday, February 28th. We provide a weeklong residency for a team to do nothing but write their musical in the heart of the Hudson Valley.

Two musicals developed in 2011 will have New York City productions this summer: "Love's Labour's Lost," by Michael Friedman and Alex Timbers, at The Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park and "Nobody Loves You," by Gaby Alter and Itamar Moses, at Second Stage Theatre.

The Rhinebeck Writers Retreat provides:

* A private, 3-bedroom home for one writing team for one week, in a beautiful, rural setting 5 miles outside of Rhinebeck, New York

* Food. Writers do their own cooking during the week.

* Electronic keyboard and office supplies

* Transportation. All writers are reimbursed for travel between NYC and Rhinebeck. There are also travel grants of up to $400, to reimburse travel costs for writers living outside of NYC.

* $300 stipend for each writer

There are 8 weeklong retreats for 8 writing teams between June 23 and August 25th. Writers can apply with a musical that is at any stage of development, as long as it has not been published or licensed. All information about the retreats, guidelines, and the online application are at www.rhinebeckwriters.org. {JFBCLike url=http://apps.facebook.com/midwestnewmusicals show_send_button=true}
